György Dalos [ Hungary ]

György Dalos, born in 1943 in Budapest, is a freelance author and historian. After studying history in Moscow, he first worked as a museologist in Budapest. In 1984 he received a grant from the DAAD’s Berlin Artists-in-Residence Program and became a staff member at the Research Center for Eastern Europe at the University of Bremen. From 1995 to 1999 he headed the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Berlin. In 1995 he was awarded the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize. In 2010 he was awarded the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding.
