Poetry Night IV
In the poems of Constantin Abǎlutǎ, the self-described »poet of the banal«, a hard life plagued with privation can always be glimpsed through the trite, absurd surfaces that he examines. His poems make use of an array of forms, from the haiku to the epic.
The poet and translator Tomasz Różycki became known for his »Twelve Stations«, influenced by the great Polish national poet, Adam Mickiewicz. The collection is an example of Heimat and travel literature, which rediscovers the past and present of former Polish fringe territories – and encounters the occasional fabulous beast.
C.K. Stead, well-known novelist, literary scholar and editor, also writes poems which combine a light touch with creative discipline, taking as their theme the personal experiences of the poet.
