José María Arguedas was a writer, anthropologist and ethnologist. His stories and novels made him one of the greatest exponents of 20th century Latin American literature. The fundamental matter of his work is concerned with the division of his country in two cultures: the Andean Quechua and the European-derived urban cultures. The core of his vision is the dilemma of this division, and the associated hopes and fears.
With an artistic performance by Rios Profundos e.V. (Initiative of the Peruvian community in Berlin)
