Young black people in the Brazilian favelas have slim chance of getting a good job developing self-confidence. The likelihood of being a victim of police violence, however, is extremely high, especially for boys. Ricardo Aleixo ─ poet, musician, visual artist and curator of FAN - Festival de Arte Negra (tr. Festival of Black Art), ─ and author Ana Paula Maia, from Rio de Janeiro, will discuss the situation of young people from the favelas as well as strategies to fight racially motivated murder.
