Every year, the European Society of Authors publishes a list of under-translated or forgotten works called Finnegan’s List, made up of recommendations from 10 prominent writers from around the world. The idea is simple: each author selects three titles from his or her personal library – fiction or non-fiction, prose or poetry. Since May 2013, Finnegan’s List has been part of Schwob, a Europe-wide initiative. Together with our partners we will support the translation of neglected modern classics into various languages. The Turkish writer Oya Baydar, Dutch author Arnon Grünberg, and Roman Simić, Croatian writer and organiser of the prestigious European Short Story Festival in Zagreb, will talk about their picks for Finnegan’s List: Bilge Karasu, Marek Hłasko, Olja Savičević Ivančević.
