was born 1946 in Lübeck, and studied Sculpture at University of Arts Berlin. His image compositions and installations have been exhibited in numerous cities. At EXPO 2000 in Hanover he was responsible for setting the stages for the theatre in the German pavilion. Mattner designed the exhibition »View into the Sun« as a result of his two-year exchange with astrophysicists from Potsdam Einstein Tower. He was featured in the Berlinische Galerie and Museum der Moderne Salzburg. Jakob Mattner shows his works in various exhibitions, at Academy of Arts Berlin, National Gallery/Hamburger Bahnhof, Schloß Neuhardenberg, Biennale Venice, Site/Santa Fé, Carpenter & Hochman New York, Gallery Pervaja Moscow, Gallery Alejandro Sales Barcelona, Museum of Modern Art Salzburg, and with Galerie 401contemporary in Berlin, Basel, Brussels, London and Turin. Mattner lives in Berlin.
