The Canadian journalist, historian and Middle East expert was born in 1943 and taught at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst before his seven-part documentary, »War«, earned him international recognition and an Oscar nomination. The series, broadcast in forty-five different countries, was based on his experiences in the military during the fifties and sixties. He works as a freelance journalist for newspapers, radio and television, and lives in London.
