Gerd Koenen [ Germany ]
Biography
Gerd Koenen was born in Marburg/Lahn in 1944. He studied Romance languages and literature, history and political sciences and since the eighties has worked as an author and historian. Among other things Koenen has published articles and books on Polish, Russian and German history. In 2007 he was awarded the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding and published his most recent book which deals with the Cuban Revolution.
