This year’s ilb should have a dramatic start, we deem, and will, thus, host a very special event For the benefit of the literatures of the world. The festival is inviting citizens of Berlin to read prose or one (or more) poems one hour before ilb 2012 will open, i.e. on 4 September at 5 o’clock p.m. The patron of the public reading will be rbb Director Dagmar Reim.
The readers autonomously choose the venues of their readings. They can read in the subway or metro train, in front of their homes, in a park, or Unter den Linden. The most original venue will get an award!
The duration of the reading should be between 5 and 15 minutes.
Before publishing the idea, we asked writers, friends of the festival, actors, owners of bookstores, librarians and teachers, who work with us in Berlin, whether they want to participate.
We would be glad to count you in as well. All we need to know is: your name, the title of the book/text you’ve chosen, the name of the author, and the venue. Please enter the relevant data in this table or write us an email at email@example.com, or send a letter to: internationales literaturfestival berlin, Ulrich Schreiber, Chausseestr. 5, 10115 Berlin.
As soon as we know the first 100 names, we will publish the venues of the readings on our website, including instructions and answers to the question: “How do I read/perform my text?” No later than mid-June we will publish a press release concerning the project.
