Volunteer at the Children’s and Young Adult Programme of the international literature festival berlin / 3.-17. September 2017

The international literature festival berlin, organised by the Peter-Weiss-Stiftung für Kunst und Politik e.V. (PWS), is a complex and multifaceted cultural institution. With remarkable closeness to artistic processes, we offer exciting work experience at the interface of literature and event management. The goal of volunteer work at the ilb is to gain experience, skills and knowledge about operating and organising an international festival.

For short internships (40 hours a week) from the 3rd until the 17th of September 2018, we are looking for volunteers to help us put on the events in the Children’s and Young Adult Programme of the 18th (5.-15. September 2018). If you have already completed an internship at the PWS, another internship is not possible. The following people are eligible for our internships:

1. University students and apprentices wishing to complete a mandatory internship due to a training or higher education regulation. A corresponding document of proof (training contract, certificate of enrolment or study regulations) must be supplied along with your application. Length of the internship: 3.-17. September 2018.

2. University students and apprentices wishing to complete a voluntary internship. A corresponding document of proof (training contract or certificate of enrolment) must be supplied along with your application. Length of the internship: 3.-17. September 2018.

3. School graduates (Abitur, MSA or Hauptschulabschluss) who have not yet begun their studies or first apprenticeship wishing to complete a voluntary internship. Length of the internship: 3.-17. September 2018.

We offer

Insights into the content-related and organisational preparation, execution and follow-up of an international literature festival. The following points of focus are possible: attending to festival guests, supervising events and assisting international authors.

We expect

An affinity for contemporary literature, festivals and cultural mediation / proficiency in MS-Office programmes, especially Outlook, Word and Excel / Very good knowledge of both German and English.

Your work with us during your internship is unpaid. Given you aren’t on duty, our staff badge allows you and one other person free entry to all festival events that are not sold out. After the end of your internship, you will receive a certificate. Three-month internships in the Children’s and Young Adult section of the international literature festival berlin / 1.1.-31.12.2018

The international literature festival berlin, organised by the Peter-Weiss-Stiftung für Kunst und Politik e.V. (PWS), is a complex and multifaceted cultural institution. In close collaboration with creative projects, we offer exciting work experience at the interface of literature and event management. During your internship, you will be working as part of a dynamic team and have the freedom to develop and implement your own ideas. The goal of ilb internships is to gain experience, skills and knowledge about operating and organising an international festival.

For our three-month internships (with a minimum of 32 hours per week, taking place between the 1.1.2018 and the 31.12.2018) we are looking for interns to help us with the preparation, execution and follow-up of the Children’s and Young Adult Programme of the 18th international literature festival berlin (5.-15. September 2018). The following people are eligible for our internships:

1. University students and apprentices wishing to complete a mandatory internship due to a training or higher education regulation. A corresponding document of proof (training contract, certificate of enrolment or study regulations) must be supplied along with your application. Length of the internship: as determined by the regulation, at least two months.

2. University students and apprentices wishing to complete a voluntary internship. A corresponding document of proof (training contract or certificate of enrolment) must be supplied along with your application. Length of the internship: two to three months.

3. School graduates (Abitur, MSA or Hauptschulabschluss) who have not yet begun their studies or first apprenticeship wishing to complete a voluntary internship. Length of the internship: two to three months.

We offer

Insight into the content-related and organisational preparation, execution and follow-up of an international literature festival. The following points of focus are possible: festival planning with international authors and artists / festival planning with hosts, actors, interpreters, press and rights department at publishing houses / event design, coordination and execution in cooperation with various cultural institutions in Berlin / researching and preparing information and material concerning the authors and books featured in the programme / maintaining the website and social media accounts / editing publications / supervising special projects such as the exhibition „The Extraordinary Book“ and the ilb U20 Poetry Slam / ticketing office and programme advice / during the festival: attending to festival guests, supervising events and assisting international authors.
