Guest of the ilb 2005
John von Düffel was born in
Göttingen in 1966. He grew up in Ireland, the USA and Germany and
studied Philosophy at Stirling University in Scotland and in Freiburg
im Breisgau. Düffel has worked as theatre and film critic,
translator, playwright, and author of radio plays and drama production
assistant. He was awarded the Aspekte Literature Prize for his
debut novel "Vom Wasser" (1998; t: On water), and later received the
Prize "Das neue Buch" and the Nicolas Born Prize. Most of his
works revolve around the element of Water, such as his 'Houweland'
(2004) and 'Hotel Angst' (2006).
