Guest of the ilb 2005
Ekkehard Maaß was born in 1951, studied Theology and Philosophy. He was well-know in East Germany as a singer of Okudshawa songs. After the expatriation of Wolf Biermann he organised readings for young authors in his apartment – in support of a generation of artists, who were distancing themselves from communist ideology ten years prior to the fall of the GDR. Since 1996 he has been the director of the German-Caucasian society which he founded.
