Guest of the ilb 2003
Born in Hamburg in 1933. He studied law, was a professor of Roman and civil-law at the Free University Berlin and in 1969 vice president of the university. A member of the SPD since 1960, he was expelled from the party in 1974 as critics judged his views to be too extreme left. Among his numerous studies are the »Geschichte des Rechts« (1997) and most recently »Die verspielte Revolution« (2002).
