Bjarte Breiteig

Bjarte Breiteig was born in Kristiansand, Norway, in 1974. He studied Physics in Trondheim and Literature at the University of Bergen. In 1998 he published his first stories under the title »Fantomsmerter« (t: Phantom Pains); the book won the debut prize of the Aschehoug Publishing House. His second book »Surrogater« (t: Surrogate) was published in 2000 and was enthusiastically received by both the public and the critics. Breiteig lives in Oslo where he works as a freelance writer. He was awarded the Mads Wiel Nygaards legat in 2006.

I appreciated very much to be able to participate at the international literature festival in Berlin 2003. I think we in the Scritture Giovani project were taken care of in a very professional way and that the arrangements of the festival were interesting. I hope you continue cooperating with the SG-project in the future, because it is a very important opportunity for young european writers.
