Valeria Parrella

Valeria Parrella was born in Torre del Greco, Italy, in 1974.  She studied Classical Philology and works at present as a sign language interpreter in Naples.  She is also part of the Neapolitan editorial staff of 'La Repubblica' as well as the magazine 'Marie Claire'.  In 2003 she published the volume of short stories 'Mosca più balena' (t: Mosquito plus Whale), for which she was awarded the Premio Campiello 2004 for the best debut. Her stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Pensa alla salute' (2003), 'Bloody Europe' (2004) and 'La qualità dell’aria' (2004) as well as in the journals 'Nuovi Argomenti', 'Origine' and 'Accatone'. Her latest collection of stories is 'Per grazia ricevuta' (2005).
