Omar Akbar has been executive director of the Bauhaus foundation in Dessau since 1998. Born in Kabul in 1948, he moved to Germany in 1960. The architect and urban planner taught at the Anhalt Polytechnic in Dessau and has achieved prominence in the fields of architecture and urban theory thanks to dozens of activities and publications. He has worked, among other things, as counselor to the Society of Technical Collaboration (GTZ) in Egypt, Gambia and Yemen.
