Barbara Schneider-Kempf,
born in Trier in 1954, studied Architecture in Mainz, Hanover and
Aachen. In 1982 she began training in higher library services at the
university library in Kaiserslautern. She worked at the university
libraries of Hanover, Düsseldorf and Potsdam before changing to the
State Library in Berlin, to whose director generalship she was
appointed in 2004.
