Necla Kelek
was born in Istanbul in 1957 and came to Germany in 1968 with her family. She earned a doctorate in Social Sciences in 2001, with a study on the »adolescent woman in Islam«. Since then she has worked as a lecturer and journalist. In 2005 she received the Geschwister Scholl Prize, and in 2006 she was awarded the Corine Prize for Non-Fiction for »Die verlorenen Söhne«.
