Kirsten Fuchs
was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz) in 1977 and grew up in East
Berlin. She studied German Language and Literature for several
semesters and completed her training as a carpenter. Two years after
winning her first literary prize in the renowned Berlin-based »Open
Mike« competition, her debut novel appeared – »Die Titanic and Herr
Berg« (2005; t: The Titanic and Mr Berg). With caustic, playful
language, it describes an ardent love affair in the present climate of
German hopelessness from the dual perspective of the two protagonists.
A collection of columns Fuchs has written for the Berlin daily paper
»taz« came out this summer under the title»Zieh dir das mal an!« (2006;
t: Just put that on!).
