The historian was born in Swakopmund, Namibia in 1958. He studied history, art and German in Berlin and Frankfurt. In 1999 he earned a doctorate from the Technical University in Berlin. As an author and publisher he has devoted himself to the history of German colonialism, with particular emphasis on the genocide in Namibia. Zeller lives in Berlin.
