born in 1964, is a German oceanographer and coastal researcher. He studied meteorology in Hamburg and completed his doctorate in physics/physical oceanography at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute for polar and marine research in Bremerhaven. Subsequently, he spent twelve years working at the University of California in Los Angeles in the area of marine biogeochemistry. Since 2014, Brix has been working at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht’s Institute for Coastal Research.
