Actress Maria Schrader will read from Jennifer Clements »Prayers for the Stolen« at this year's festival.

Hundreds of interviews with women affected by the drug war constitute the base this novel. Ladydi grows up in a Mexican village in which desperate mothers dress up their daughters as boys or hide them in holes in the ground as soon as the SUVs of the drug dealers appear. A job in Acapulco seems to be the solution, but then she gets tangled up in a drug deal.

Tickets are available at the box office of Berliner Festspiele or online.
