The program booklet of the section "International Children´s and Young Adult Literature" was just published! In 2014, the section "International Children’s and Young Adult Literature" introduces a selection of emerging books aimed towards children and young adults, exceptional in form and content. Many of the program’s books are firstly presented in attendance of the author/illustrator, as a premier in Germany.

This year, 15 guests take part in this festival section: Martin Baltscheit (Germany), Iwona Chmielewska (Poland), Gabriela Cichowska (Poland), Michael De Cock (Belgium), Ursula Dubosarsky (Australia), Finn-Ole Heinrich (Germany), Marta Ignerska (Poland), Kim Dong-Seong (South-Korea), Jon Klassen (Canada / USA), Filippos Mandilaras (Greece), Truus Matti (Netherlands), Patrick Ness (USA / GB), Alessandro Sanna (Italy), William Sutcliffe (GB) as well as Martina Wildner (Germany). This selection is complemented by seven guests from altering festival sections who will also perform for our young audience: Ishmael Beah (Sierra Leone / USA), Azouz Begag (France), Mirko Bonné (Germany), Lydia Dimitrow (Germany), Cyril Pedrosa (France), Fine Riebner (Germany), and Judith Vanistendael (Belgium). Our Retrospective is centred around William Steig (USA). The altogether 22 guests, presenting their creative work as part of our Children’s and Young Adult Literature program, come from 13 countries. In September, several festival participants firstly present their work internationally (Michael De Cock, Filippos Mandilaras, Truus Matti) or in Germany (Jon Klassen, Alessandro Sanna, William Sutcliffe, Ursula Dubosarsky).
