Marcel Beyer receives the Oskar Pastior Award 2014 Award ceremony takes place at the international literature festival berlin

The Oskar Pastior Award, worth 40.000 €, goes to poet and storyteller Marcel Beyer, whose work stands out due to “the intensive observance of narrative material leading through difficult issues into a poetically open territory”.

After Oswald Egger in 2010, Marcel Beyer is the second winner; in 2012 the foundation did not award anyone but instead worked on clarifying Oskar Pastior’s participation in Securitate. The results of this investigation were published in 2013 as „Versuchte Rekonstruktion – Oskar Pastior und die Securitate“ (Edition Text + Kritik).

The award ceremony takes place on the 14th of September 2014 during the international literature festival berlin at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele. Christina Weiss will do the laudation for Marcel Beyer.

At their council meeting on the 6th of March the Oskar Pastior Foundation decided to award Marcel Beyer. The jury consisted the foundation council members: Klaus Ramm, Marianne Frisch, Christina Weiss, Ulf Stolterfoht, Dierk Rodewald, Herta Müller und Ernest Wichner.
