Liao Yiwu called for the freedom of the Chinese poet, Li Bifeng.
The Chinese author Liao Yiwu protests with an appeal against the imprisonment and the trial of his friend Li Bifeng, which will take place on May 8th in Peking.
Berlin reading at 4th of September 2012
This year’s ilb should have a dramatic start, we deem, and will, thus, host a very special event For the benefit of the literatures of the world. The festival is inviting citizens of Berlin to read prose or one (or more) poems one hour before ilb 2012 will open, i.e. on 4 September at 5 o’clock p.m.

As the poem falls to the paper: Creeps up, makes no noise, takes the pen, writes itself down, and disappears.” Like the poem that the late Syrian poet Fuad Rifka read at the International Literature Festival (ilb) in 2004, the ilb crept up on Berlin.
